Lil' Bell

so cutee.. don't think I am even 1 year old with that pacifier.. tuutututututu

No idea where this is taken, there's a waterfall at the back?

No 2.

Kids will behave like kids.

I use to drink with a spoon. Maybe the cup was too heavy, or maybe I just like to drink with the spoon. hehe.

Kindergarten Bell

I can explain why I enjoy partying. It probably started when I was in Kindergarten where the teacher would select me for dance performances. I get it all the time, but I have no idea why? I wonder what the other kids were doing when we had to practice dancing..

I remember this dance, because I like the fluffy fans. lol.
Not so sure what this dance is all about?

This is hilarious. We had to pretend to pluck flowers or berries or something.

The outfit explains all, isnt it? Bleah.

Yup, was from Fairfield.

Graduation!

Hoorayyy!

Sometimes I wonder, what is graduation all about? It's definitely more than getting a piece of paper. A lot of people place so much importance, but seriously what does graduation means to you? I am going to miss mine in September this year because I'd be in Perth. I'd get someone to collect my certificate.

Kindergarten days. I was a troublesome kid, I love to sleep and my parents had to wake me up again and again. Hmm.. Actually, I still laze around every morning and refuse to wake up.. at this age. hehe. Mummy would shower for me, then she would tie my hair and I get to choose what earrings and shoes I want to wear to school. I am late for school every day? Because of my parents work timings, it was a little too rush and too troublesome to make it on time for school. Anyway, they sing all the christian songs in the morning, so it was alright for me to skip.

After school, my uncle or aunty will fetch us to our granny's place. Then one of my aunties will shower for us, one will bring us to get food, one will teach us how to read and write, etc etc. I have a lot of aunties, so they sort of have like different roles. We were the first few grandchildren, my mum's side.. so quite a lot of privilleges. The rest of the day, we'd just play all the old school games which I love..

My grandparents sell vegetables, so there's always the vegetable worms. We would catch them to feed the rooster. Old school right? Now, I will not catch any sort of worms. It's disgusting. We do tons of silly stuffs when we're young, don't we? I love hide-and-seek. Somehow I'd win. hehe. I like the hiding part, and the boo-ing part. You just have to react faster when the person catches you and you win! We play in those old houses in Chinatown, the really old ones during world war II, so we would run around the area and there's so many places to hide. >.<

My Family

Everything is pretty much the same at home. Nagging mum, problematic sister, shopaholic beauty queen sister and even my irritating brother.. haha. except just one. My dad. I started to notice the change in his lifestyle, like the eating habits.. and since when he needs to start taking medication? I love my dad very very much, so I am very concern. Last night, I was just sitting in the living room, waiting for him to open his second can of beer. GOTCHA! Caught red-handed.. I think he needs to cut down on that. I understand how frustrating and difficult life can be sometimes, but beer is no solution. My dad drinks when he's very happy or he has a whole lot kept inside him. The regular Monday drinking sessions are the happy ones, usually. I used to drive him to and fro his drinking sessions. It's only been a few months, and I am noticing some changes. I am going to make some changes, whatever it may be. He needs to drink less.

The more time I spent with my parents, both of them.. The more I feel the need and responsibility to look after them. Mum whines a lot, I guess that explains why I whine a lot too! She would go on and on about different problems. We went to the temple yesterday and I saw her praying to this god that looks after people's relationship. I mean, how can my mum be praying for relationship right? It's obvious it's for my siblings.. She was just telling me it's time they get married bla bla bla bla bla..

I need to prepare some documents for court, because my dad needs to claim bad debts or something, in short, to get his money back..
See? How can I not come home to look after them?

Mingyi said it's alright to just come home when they need you. That's being responsible too. But I feel we should be there for our parents at all times, not just when they need us.

Guys do think differently. It's like usually the guys are the ones that want to apply for PR in Australia, whereas the girls might prefer to go home.. It's very different attitudes. Does this explain why people nowadays prefer to have daughters than sons? Hmm..

So much thoughts.

To be continued..

First Few Days in Singapore..

I AM HOME!

It feels a little weird though.. I clearly know the differences between living in Perth and in Singapore. I just needed to kind of figure out what I really want in life, where I belong to and where I want to fit in. It's all about choices. My life no longer stays in this little dot on the map. I am plotting my life on this very interesting graph.

I met Weiliang yesterday. COOL, love him. He foresees many things about me. So meeting him first was totally interesting. He sees my point and what I am talking about. I have a lot of respect for him. I respect him as much as my dad, which is very rare. He tells me I am viewing things as a student and I am missing out a lot from the perspectives of someone working outside. I have to agree. But what he was trying to say to me was.. Good start that you've stepped out of Singapore. Think about it. Since you are already out of your comfort zone, stay outside for a couple more years. You will have no problems adapting in foreign lands and there is so much to learn. Don't expect too much though, in terms of remuneration. It's just a starting point.

This leads me to thinking what have been happening to my friends. Working in Singapore is crazy. All my friends are forever working overtime. So much so to the extend that Yuan doesnt even like want to talk to me. He's depressed and he cant even find that few minutes to text me back?! Today I received a call from Joyz, just whining about how she is being bullied at work, bla bla.. We can't avoid such office politics, I know it's common. I also know Singapore is not a good location to work in. Anyway, I have another year to think about this..

It's like my SECOND OFFICIAL DAY home.. and my shoulders are getting heavy. I met Kong last night and he was talking to me about his career plans.. I feel a little overwhelmed by the amount of problems I have on my shoulders now. I WANT TO BE THERE FOR ALL MY FRIENDS. I am prepared to come home to be here for everyone. That's a huge difference compared to Perth. All I ever needed was to take care of myself only. But no worries, just call if you need me.

There are many issues I seriously need to think about, at this point in my life. I am 24 this year, I should be heading somewhere in my career or start planning for a family, etc.. But I chose to be flexible and took the route to study when Dr Trish Todd offered me Masters. I know I will lose out to most of my friends in many aspects, because I am slower, even though I will be more qualified. LIFE IS ALL ABOUT CHOICES, isnt it?

And Bell is never someone to follow the norm, I just want to answer to myself and when I look back 20, 30 years down the road, I can answer to myself if taking this route is worth it. Anyway, life is ever changing, just enjoy whatever comes along the way?

I've shopped a little too much these days.. getting all the stuffs I might need when I go back to Perth. Yesterday I bought 2 pairs of shoes and a lovely dress.. That's not the end of the list though.. haha..

Look at the passenger seat, that was first half of shopping yesterday

Today, I did something. I wrapped one kilograms of nougats. haha! I cant get everyone a gift specifically because I have too much people to meet, unless you specifically ask me to get you something. But everyone just tells me to come home safely. I did :)

Darren, your bottle of sand is soooooooooooooooooooooo much work. You outta thank Thomas for the drive to Cottesloe beach at night, then I had to bake them in the oven because the sand was a little wet, so moist. Then I had to pack them nicely, then then I had to go round looking for the bottles and here is your final product.

Can someone please remind me if you ever think that Bell is becoming more selfish? I am a little worried. I am afraid staying in Perth.. where everyone mostly cares about themselves.. I don't want to become like that. I am still happy to go the extra mile for my friends and do the little things I enjoy :) Thanks!

GO GO GO GO Take the Test!

Exams are FINALLY OVER!!

I was busy packing my stuffs, until I gave up. I hate it, it's so troublesome! :(

Anyway, something fun~! I created a quiz on facebook, which I think even my sister and brother will fail the test.. Darren said it's tough. It is, I doubt even my ex boyfriend will get it right too! This will prove who has been listening to me, the one that really listens to my nonsense! Good Luck!
Let me show you 2 responses so far..

I am going home next monday. A few people have offered to pick me up, like Yuan, Braduh Stanz and to my surprise, Carlie. I am very appreciative and it's just nice to know people are looking forward to you going home.

I want to mention a few things.
When I was taking Damian's test, I realized the pictures he had chosen for the facebook test.. 3 out of 5 pictures were taken with me. It's so nice, and he tells me he just wants me to be home safely. Xiaoqi has emphasized that I must attend her birthday paartyy! Yeah! Mingyi is another one whom I feel is very sincere and looking forward to my going home.

I LOVE EVERYONE! *hugs* *hugs*

Exams, Exams & Exams..

Examinations.

I am blogging just because I want to whine about it. haha. Exams are so tiring, especially when my papers are so close together. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday. I just want to get done with it. I've been having packed food since last Saturday, 5 days of take aways, 5 days of sleeping late, 5 days of insufficient sleep, 5 day of brain power, I am tired. I feel drained and it's only normal to. It should get a little better after tomorrow's paper because I will have a few days to study for next week's paper.

I was quite happy after my Marketing Comm paper today. Different people have different talents and I am just bad with figures. Look at my past transcripts, I screw up every module that has got to deal with figures, statistics, accounting, finance. I just cant handle it. Prof Mizerski was so 'nice'. When I received the question paper, I was like.. NICE.. 8 pages of statistics! I guess at post graduate level, we are expected to analyze all these data. Then from the data, we make decisions, like how we choose our target audiences, how much are they consuming, the right medium to reach them, etc etc. There's just tons of statistics! So even if I am not going to do well for this paper, I am proud of myself with my attempt to digest everything and just do my best.

Great Job Bell! :)

Client Management. God bless me, tomorrow.

Ethics for next week. Dead. I am so dying. The revision lecture was 'useful', Professors mentioned that we are not allowed to copy the question, no marks given. You are not allowed to use pencil. You have to write legibly, if not, no marks given. He's not marking. Mentioning the theories doesnt mean you get it right. It's one of the irritating professors that wants you to have a very good understanding of the whole module, like all 12 lectures, integrate them as a whole to answer all the questions. It's one of those you can't smoke through with common sense. It doesnt work this way. After the lecture, everyone looked at each other like.. @_@ to @_@. In the first place, nobody have a good understanding of the module. On the feedback form, I wrote the following:
  • 1st. If their objective was to get us to review our ethical behaviour and issues, it's probably too late. I feel that my upbringing plays a part. My values are not shaped by the textbook. So it's stupid.
  • 2nd. Most post graduate students have working experiences. The ethical issues they faced at work would be more valuable than the lesson.
  • 3rd. This lead us to thinking this module is completely irrelevant because it is not practical. Whatever learnt cannot be applied?
  • 4th. This module emphasized too much on personal values, heuristics. Hello? Hello? If the module emphasized more on 'business' issues, I think it would be more useful.
  • 5th. The workshops sucks, big time! I feel like I am attending a Kindergarten lesson, from the way it is conducted.
  • 6th. At the end of the last lecture, I have absolutely no idea what is going on. I've never really skip, except a few workshops. Most people have no idea what the Professor was teaching.
  • 7th. They should work on the materials used. Most people dont understand the textbook and I am not exception. The slides should be simplified. There should be less information. What's the point of having so much slides, when you cant teach everything?

Thus, I conclude, this module is a complete waste of money and time! I hope I pass. PLEASE. The professors are failing people. The reason being.. students have poor understanding of the subject. And I think the problem lies with the structure of the whole module and the professors! I am so enjoying my Marketing modules for this semester.

We whine how heavy client management is, we felt that we could have scored better for Marketing Comms, but at the end of the day, I know that most people enjoyed the lessons. Ethics is just..

For once, I am feeling like Jasmine. This post sounds so much like Jasmine. There's so much similarity to her blog. haha.

11 days to going home..

A Different Approach to My Life..

This post might be slightly different, so be prepared. :)

I remember all my past conversations with Irving. We'd always agree I still have a long way to go.. I knew that I needed to be more 'balanced' in my life, to be more 'stable' in handling all issues.

I feel that I am getting closer to this stage, where I am more mature and capable of the challenges in my life.

I am not sure if it was because of the pace in Perth, my experience here or it just comes naturally as you get older.

I stopped panicking over the small issues, like examinations or shifting house. In life, there's always a solution to our problems. It just depends on which approach you choose to take.

I had my first paper yesterday. 25 chapters of Global Marketing, but I only did 5 chapters and went into the exam hall. Tomorrow I have another paper and I have no idea how to calculate CPM. I dont even know what is CPM, but I am not panicking or overly stressed over it. I just came back from supper. Ken was like, YOU HAVE EXAMS TOMORROW AND YOU CAME OUT FOR SUPPER?! Yeah, I mean, I feel everything is so packed, I could hardly breathe. So what's wrong with going out for a meal?

I am always VERY HARD ON MYSELF. When things happen, I get upset. My whole family is like that. My mum constantly blames herself for whatever's happened to her children. Amelia works like there's no tomorrow and she never has enough sleep.

Now, I just want to be realistic. I would like to aim high, but I think we cannot aim high in all aspects. We gain some, we lose some. I like to have a balance of things in my life. I need to be aware of what I want to achieve, utimately, throughout my stay in Perth. Being realistic means I might not have distinctions this semester. I believe in studying every single thing, mutiple textbooks, all lecture materials, etc. In short, I was a hard working student. I spent the whole semester playing catch-up, till a point in time, I just gave up because it was almost impossible to. Post graduate is just heavy, or maybe it's just my marketing modules. So this time round, I took a completely different approach. I can even be packing my baggage, preparing to move into my new house when I should be studying very hard for the papers.

I find that a lot of approaches I used in the past did not work? I guess so? And it's good to have a goal and aim high, but sometimes you just cant achieve that much when you want the best of everything?

Han was telling me how he became more confident as he got older and stuffs. I can picture Bell at the end of my stay in Perth. I have friends, I have people who care. But when you are overseas, you are on your own. Let's face it. Every experience, every emotions, every single thought of mine is unique and it aids in my growing up and learning process. I hope all these will shape Bell into what everyone wants to see. I did not forget my purpose of coming here. And I will not disappoint those back home.

12 days to going home..
