Interesting Stuffs in Perth

I found a couple of interesting stuffs in the environment I reside in, the places I pass by everyday and the little things that I do..

Number 1 - Instead of the usual vandalism, someone posted this at the back of the toilet door. It says "Why do people write on bathroom walls? What is the meaning behind their grafitti? I want to hear from you!"

It's a smart move if the student attempted to do a research on vandalism. Yet on the other hand, it's just simply amusing. I was tempted to write on it, I am sure I could write like a paragrah if I wanted to comment. Then again, it seems stupid to participate in this?! Haha. Anyway, I was actually silly enough to check on the other toilet doors to make sure every cubicle had one in it. Yes. I still think its for research purpose because of the language used. It's not offensive. Unfortunately, people still write nonsensical stuffs and 'abuse' it.

Notice that there's supposed to be like an advertisement or notice at the back of the toilet door. I quite like the idea, of making it 'proper'.

Number 2 - End of Television Transmission

Back in Singapore, when the last tv program ends, you know there's this old school black/white colourful picture that will be displayed showing the time? It then improves to showing games that people pay to play..

The Aussie style is awesome! They show the current situation of various cities and places around the world, playing classical music. For example, it might show old architectures of Istanbul, Turkey, then Macau, China, etc.. It constantly changes. The places chosen are scenic, mainly landmarks or just an overview of the city. I was observing and I would conclude it's a reflection of whatever is happening in the country now. Like it's night time over my side, it's late afternoon in the states.. So I am quite sure it's a current, real time situation. At the bottom of the screen, it would state the classical music album used.

After a short while, it would show temperatures around the world. I love it! I mean, it's interesting and informative at the same time. It's also relaxing where you spend a few minutes appreciating the wonders of the world.

Good Night, my audience.

Jojo's Little First Steps..

I've mentioned my new found hobby in Perth in my previous posts.

I'd like to talk about something really interesting and adorable!

JOJO's FIRST STEPS..

Firstly, I named the baby peacock Jojo because my friend, Jolynn seems to be the only person that tells me she sees them open up and flaunt their pretty pretty feathers, around in school. Trust me, I am at Arts sooo often, I dont even get to see it. I've become so familiar that I know their feeding times. Also, Jolynn was the first person who've seen the baby peacock, least when I bring someone there?

Just happens, I was there at the right time today!

I presume they were just wandering around after a meal?

I managed to watch Jojo fly and jump up the little steps on the stairs!! Wow! It's kind of amazing, I dont know how to describe it. It's a new life and learning the basics. The pea hen follows its baby all the time. It seems that Jojo is not able to judge, he/she wanders around everywhere, like inability to sense danger?

One thing I realized.. Everyone loves Jojo. When I reached Arts, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. I saw a group of girls taking pictures with their cameras and handphones? So I knew Jojo was around.. YUPP, how can I be wrong?

I think I've gotten used to their shit all over the place and I am getting closer to them each time. This guy walked out from one side of the Arts to another. He saw Jojo and he couldn't help but took out his phone to take a picture, then he walked further down and turned back. Everyone that passes by and sees Jojo smiles. Isnt that sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet?

Easter Break & Bell's Birthday!

08 April 2009

My Birthday celebration started off last Wednesday at Sher Ting's house. Chef Joe cooked Hainanese Chicken Rice which turned out really good. We basically followed the instructions. They were not able to get me a cake because I ended up at their place early. I spoilt their plans.. but they replaced it with cupcakes.

09 April 2009

I had dinner with Mark, Bruce, Han, Ken, etc etc etc.. People whom I got to know through Mark. After exploring Innaloo, we finally got to Sizzler. The initial plan was a Japanese restaurant, by the name of Satsuki at Subiaco, but it was full and we did not make prior reservation.

I had a car for a few days as it was cheaper to rent for the whole week. So I took the first few days, while Shirlene took the remaining days to go on her road trip.

It's kind of scary to drive a rented car and I am not exactly familiar with the road directions. But trust me, I felt more 'safe' and at ease driving the car than Mark did. Usually guys are better drivers and I feel more secure as a passenger? Sorry Mark, he's probably one of the worse male drivers I've ever encountered?

After dinner, we ended up at Currie Hall's recreation room and I was happily chatting with Han, Ken and Kai Xiang while Mark and Bruce were playing pool.

Thereafter, Ken accompanied me for supper at Northbridge, then we went to Cottesloe Beach, King's Park and his place. Cottesloe Beach is so nice! It had such a great view while I was on the swing, just talking to Ken.

It's kind of weird to go to someone's place in the middle of the night, but since Ken offered, alright I'd just drop by for a short while. Something disturbed me. Ken closed the door while I was in his room. I felt he should leave the door open, it's a form of respect for the girl. I know he doesn't mean it the wrong way, he just wanted the privacy. Anyway, I brought up the issue the next time I saw him and he agreed. Duh -.-"

I was supposed to go night driving with Mark, but for situational reasons, I ended up with Ken. Truth be told, I was quite happy it was Ken. For if not, I would not have such enjoyable conversations and I would not have known Ken better. I whine a lot and I hardly have a 'connection' with anyone. I wouldn't say I have a connection with Ken, but I seriously feel we connect better, like he knows what I am talking about. He is feeling whatever I am saying. There's this mutual understanding of the conversation and it makes talking to him so enjoyable. On top of that, I find most of the conversations in Perth so 'superficial' and they lack 'depth'. I am a deep thinker and at least, I feel there is some 'depth' in Ken's thinking, which is really nice. He offered to lend me his ears if I ever needed someone to speak to. Sweeet~

10 April 2009

Me, Shirlene, Pei Shi, Sher Ting and Sze Hong's friends planned to go sand boarding. It's about a 2 hours drive to Lancelin. I am not driving, so it doesnt matter, though it's kind of boring to see long roads and nothing but greenery.

We dropped by the Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA). It seems that they are making the stop for me cause I was like the only person keen on going? But it was lovely, the stingray is HUGE, like HUGE HUGE, I am sure it's big enough for 100 servings. heh.

Sher Ting & Me
I love the travellators, I like this part of the aquarium best, somehow :)

Mischevious Sze Hong and the rest trying to be funny..

Sand Boarding
This is so fun! I seriously think it's worth the 2 hours drive to take the monster bus ride and go sand boarding. I even attempted the backwards slide down. GOOD ONE! (._.)

We planned to BBQ at Matilda Bay, but it's quite packed? Not surprising since it's Easter, so Mark and I drove up to King's Park. I think it's even worse.. so we ended up having a BBQ at my place..

Small Balcony, still enough room for the few of us!

BBQ-ing

Chef Hong, Manager of Subway

After the BBQ, I went to Metro City. It was packed, the queue drove me nuts, but fortunately, it was quite fast. We got in, in 10 minutes although we were queueing at the main roads? I went to Metro with Charis, Jolynn, Bertha and Sher Ting.

They are real nice. I know that Jolynn is not the sort who clubs, but because it's my birthday so she makes the effort. Charis.. omg! she bought so much drinks, for me! The first round, she got Jelly fish and this other drink that's like juice or something. I remember we had a few drinks. I felt so bad that she was paying because I wouldn't mind paying. I am not very very close to Charis, so I am very appreciative of it.

That night was SOOOOOOOOOOO FUN! The crowd was alright, the right people, all the university students, the music was good, much better than the previous time I was there. We bumped into Ben, Sze Hong's friend so Sher Ting was hanging out with them. That's good, I am afraid I cant look after 2 at the same time. I know Jolynn can't drink much. I've seen her at Charis's place before.. soo..

Bertha came, she was so high, she was screaming.. "I am so high! I am so high!" for a while in the middle of the dance floor.. Then Charis's boyfriend came.. so obviously more drinks, I bought the second round, since she bought the first.. Ben also offered me beer. He offered a few times that I eventually decided to have some.. Too much drinking..

At some point in time, I was resting in the female toilet for a short while. I am okay, I could walk to the ladies on my own. I texted Mark, since he is picking me up. I know I had a lot to drink, that I was kind of feeling dizzy, so hiding in there for a while means nobody will ask me to drink. Then I went back to look after Jolynn. She's dancing dancing and I was a little worried she would fall, so my right arms were like over her waist most of the time. But I guess she is alright. She's lovely. Charis's boyfriend's friend was dancing with me, and I think she didn't quite like it, so Jolynn grabbed me. I know its a way of protection in that sense, though I didnt mind much since it's related to someone I know.

Charis ended up so high, while Bertha became completely sober. It's just funny?
So much fun @ Metro that night :)

Here's what happened.. The stupid thing in Metro is that they do not offer tissues or serveittes, so.. you have to go to the toilet to wash up.. Clubs are usually kind of messy and sticky with all the drinks all over..
I soaked my bag with just water and when I woke up the next day..

I have absolutely no idea which alcohol or whatsoever, but it was like pinky in colour?

It was so bad, that I had to wash my notes.. heh

12 April 2009/13 April 2009

I had Dim Sum with Kelly, then I went shopping with her. It was nice, I like her very much. She's lovely and adorable, such a sweet girl.

Then I met Alvin for a drink at a cafe at Harbourtown.

Then Then.. dinner with Mark.. Nope, we had to go round looking for cake before settling down for dinner..

Then Then Then.. at 12am? Ken, Bruce and Han came over for the official cake cutting. haha.

I didnt do much on my birthday. It rained the whole day?! But I had dinner with Emylia.

Ice Cream Cake. Bell's 24th

I just want to thank all my friends, those who have texted me, whether it's the local number or my Aussie number. Thank you so much. If you've notice, my facebook profile page is also flooded with birthday wishes.

Today, I received a card from Jasmine, a musical birthday card. It's my first! Thank you sweetie :)

The most surprising thing was a small crystal figurine of the RAM from Damian. Thank you so much, so much effort.. I mean he has to go through getting the gift and sending it to my place in Aussie..

Miss everyone. Hope all is well..
Cheers!

Perth Activities

I'd sum up my 'interesting' activities in Perth.

Metro City
It's kind of like an Asian club in Perth, which only operates on Saturday?! Yes, just one day a week?? Unless they have events on Friday nights.. Totally doesnt make sense. The place and crowd was alright, but the music sucks!! What to do.. I am in Perth.

BBQ, South Perth
Thanks to Joe's friends who visited him, we've got something to do!

King's Park
Joe, Shirlene and I were soooooo bored, that we actually went to King's Park.

Picture! Picture!

Tomato Lake

You can skip this if you like, there's nothing over there. We had nothing to do, that we decided to walk to tomato lake. The only thing that was a little entertaining was probably the playground, the swings and all. Refer to picture below.

IMPORTANT SUMMARY: I LOOK TERRIBLE IN ALL THESE PICTURES. DON'T ASK WHY. I'LL TRY TO LOOK BETTER IN THE FUTURE. JUST BEAR WITH IT (._.)

Bell's New Hobby

I am sure you would have figured out my new found hobby in Perth! Lovely, isnt it?

OK, I managed to take some pictures with my lousy camera phone..

Arts School
Can you see there's like a little stage? Actually, they can sort of close up the area and they do hold some performances over there at night. I've seen it. Pretty impressive, I mean the idea and the concept.

YEAH~!

I know it's not clear. I'd try to bring a camera next time!
In the red circle is a baby peacock, and on the left is probably the mother. It's seriously ADORABLE! I went back today to look for it, but I can't seem to find them. There's 5 peacocks, permanent residents of UWA. But usually, they go out to play in the day. When I first saw this baby peacock, I thought it was a little duckling or something. UWA has a lot of ducks.. so.. but it didnt make sense why the baby and the mother seems to follow each other all the time. SO.. I went closer to observe this sweet little baby. It's a BABY PEACOCK! Because the beaks are sharp, it's not round. Furthermore, the ducks in UWA is not yellow in colour. They are dark brown in colour.
I learnt a few things today:
  • Baby peacock is 2 weeks old
  • You have to walk slowly to approach them or they'll be frightened and move away immediately

This is an interesting picture. When I first came, I enjoy just sitting infront of Winthrop Tower and watch the ducks and ducklings. I took this picture because when it swims towards me, it's lovely, like the movement it makes and the effects on the water.

Arts. Peacocks.

4.38pm. Arts School, outside Alexander Lecture Theatre, mini amphitheatre.

Peacock Viewing Gallery.

Just kind of enjoying the breeze.

Sitting down, watching peacocks.

They are always missing, but somehow all 5 will be back at night.

Alex is sooo lazy, he just rests on the floor, till this little boy walked past with the mini balloon, that's when all 3 of them decided to move.

Now it's a solo performance by a little boy, with his yellow balloon.

Opps, he dropped it.

I always see little kids in the day, I presume they do the same thing as me.

To appreciate and watch the peacocks.

Home Sick :(

Today I am seriously home sick. I am not usually like that. I usually get over in a few minutes. I choose this path.. so.. I am quite prepared for whatever's ahead. All the challenging times, the lonely nights, all the tears that flows down my cheeks..
I was looking at some family and friends pictures. As I was browsing through the folder. I chance upon this picture that captured my attention. Why did I post this picture?
It's a broken heart. Can you see the huge plaster and little stitches?
Dear All, EVERY SINGLE STITCH represents someones that cares for me. So they made the effort to mend a broken heart. Thank you all, for all your concern. I know a lot of people back in Singapore cares for me. I hope I am not a disappointment to those who believed in me.

Each time I send a little message back to my family and friends, I usually say I am doing good. Truth is, it is very hard to tell someone I am not so good. There's bound to be such times over here, but I just can't bring myself to say I am not so good. It just doesnt make sense to not give good news.
Let's hope things get better!
Miss you all! *hugs*
